My youngest son and I were lounging this morning when he suddenly
noticed we had visitors outside just off to the right of the deck. He said,
"MOM – The reindeer are here!!!" He was so excited he could hardly contain
himself. I quickly grabbed the camera to try to snag a few shots before Ellie
realized they were out there. Had to shoot through our patio door (with
screen). After they started to run across the yard behind the playset, I snuck
out the door and around the corner to try to get a couple more. And then they
ran off toward the swamp, but stopped for just another one before running off
into the swamp.

The lighting this morning was very challenging as the sun was
really coming through hard and it was making my camera meter all screwed up. If
the deer had waited just a few more minutes, the clouds would've come and the
lighting would've been much better. I'm certainly not a nature or wildlife photographer. Oh well. It was still one of those times
that we don't see often enough.
