When it comes to boudoir worthy manicures, I prefer looks that are clean, simple and timeless. Here are my 5 favorite photo worthy manicures for your photo boudoir photo session.
Simple: If you prefer the simpler things in life, I suggest going without any polish at all. Just use a nail buffer to add natural shine to your nails. This is the simplest and quickest manicure and you can even do it yourself so no trip to the salon is required (unless you just want to go and be pampered, which is always fun).
French Tips: My own fingernails, shown here, naturally grow with white tips. But if your’s do not, simply ask your nail salon for a French manicure. Or, if you want to do it yourself, just paint the tips of your nails with white polish.
Whimsical: For a simple spin on your standard French manicure, try swapping out the white for your favorite glittery accent color. To get the look pictured, gloss on two coats of your favorite clear polish, then carefully trace the tip of your nail with a glittery polish such as Butter London’s Fairy Cake Nail Lacquer. To seal the deal, finish it off with a top coat.
Classic: When I think of a timeless manicure, soft shades of blush pinks come to mind. My favorite muted pink polish is You Cannoli Imagine by OPI. For a modern spin on the version shown here, use a matte topcoat. OPI even makes one and it’s clearly labeled as MATTE right on the top of the bottle.
Glam: Aside from nail art, these past two years have been all about the “accent” nail. I love this look when paired with a sparkly cocktail ring. It adds a lovely dose of understated glam that’s not completely over the top. For this look, use Essie’s Fiji and some craft-grade glitter. To get the super-sparkly accent nail, apply a thick base coat, and sprinkle the glitter over the top while the base is still wet. Once it is completely dry, finish it off with a strong topcoat. Voila! Instant glitz in 5-minutes or less.
