Last night I went over to LeMoyne college to watch the swim meet between our local Cicero North Syracuse team and Baldwinsville. What a blast! I’ve been itching to get into doing more sports photography, especially since most of the senior guys are into that. Luckily, I had met Billy’s mom a few months ago and she told me to come on out. 🙂
Let me tell you, shooting sports is challenging. But swimming….wow – very very hard. Not only are the lighting conditions not all that great, but using a flash is frowned upon too. Add in the intense speed at which these young athletes are swimming and it makes for a very challenging shoot. I took nearly 100 shots in the hour I was there and, despite most of them being in focus, it was hard to tell who the swimmer was as the water splashed so magnificently around them. But I’m thrilled with the shots I did get and am pleased to report that Billy broke our school record for diving with a 291. Amazing!! Take a look:
There are some more images from this swim meet on the Facebook fan page. Stop by and leave some love for Billy!!
Are you a high school athlete? Want photos of yourself “in action”? Drop me a note and we’ll get you on the calendar. 🙂
wow, fantastic action shots!!
Kim,
thank you for coming out to the CNS Boy Varsity swim meet last night. You are right – it is amazing how fast these boys move in the water an taking these kind of action shots is difficult. However, I am thrilled with the shots you did get – a job very well done.
thank you
