My World, Your World Project {Photos by Kim Hill, Portrait Photographer}

So a lot of photography enthusiasts start out the new year with a Project 365 or Project 52.  Well, I can't seem to follow through on those projects and rarely get past the month of January.  Probably like a lot of others who resolve to diet in January and quit by February.  LOL  But I decided to participate in a "My World, Your World" project with some other amazing women photographers from the 4TLoF group and will be posting my shots once a month.  Now THAT is a time commitment I can handle.  There are 36 of us participating, so We have paired up for each theme.  My partner for the year is the fabulously talented Britt Anderson who covers the Hilton Head and Savannah, Georgia region.

Our first monthly theme is "black & white".  While many others in the group have chosen to each do a black & white image, Britt and I took a different approach.  I shot a predominantly black image while she shot a predominantly white image.  Together they make the theme "black & white".  Here is my half:

I hope you will take a moment to check out Britt's half of the project, along with her other amazing work.  🙂

Camera Necklace Winner {Central New York Photographer, Kim Hill}

My friend Tamsen, of Creative Clicks Photography, held a little blog contest a few weeks ago.  I enter all sorts of these fun little things, never expecting to be a winner.  But this time I did!!  :)  The adorable necklace arrived yesterday afternoon.  Of course, I had to put it on right away and see how it looked.  LOVE IT.  I was out earlier today and received some nice compliments on it, too.  Isn't this cute?!

So thanks, Tamsen.  I absolutely LOVE the necklace.  🙂

Vintage Glam {Seductively You, CNY Photographer}

Another portrait from last week’s session with Miss T.  She had explained to me that she is very interested in old cameras and film photography, and that she wanted some images captured of herself with a vintage camera.  Luckily, I happen to collect vintage cameras and we used this old Argus twin lens reflex camera as a prop.  In keeping with the vintage theme, I decided to make a bird cage veil to add some interest to her hair.  When Miss T. came by today to view her images, this was the first one she selected.  YAY!!  It totally made my day to see her happy with the results.  🙂

Miss T. {Seductively You – Intimate Portraits, Syracuse, NY)

Normally, I do not blog on the same day as a session.  I usually like to fully edit all the images and deliver them to the client.  But today, I had to share just one.  I’ve been wanting to do this sensual boudoir pose with the draped fabric for quite some time.  I think it was well worth the wait.  LOVE this shot.

Thanks so much, Miss T.  More images to come in a few days.  🙂

Say goodbye to 2010 {Central New York Photographer}

As the year comes to an end, I decided to go back through my files to reflect on the year and share 10 shots that make me happy.  Some are clients, some are personal, and some are from the photographers’ retreat I attended in the fall.

Some of the highlights from this year included:

– a broken foot in March
– losing 45 pounds
– attending a photographers’ retreat in October
– having surgery in October
– enjoying weekly outings with my boys all summer

Overall, it was a good year and I’m looking forward to an even better 2011.  Thank you to all of you!!!

Our dog Ellie {Central New York Photographer}

It is such a beautiful autumn morning here in New York.  The leaves are already past prime, but look pretty on the ground (for now at least).  I suppose I will eventually have to go out there and rake them up.  But in the meantime, I will enjoy their shortlived color.

Today I spent a little time out back playing with our dog, Ellie, who is now 2 1/2 years old.  She LOVES to eat apples and luckily she can have her fair share as we have 3 apple trees out back.  She's not usually very cooperative when I have the camera in hand.  But apparently she will do anything for an apple.  LOL

Hope you are able to get outside and enjoy the colorful fall.  🙂

Here’s one for Guinness {Central New York Photographer}

As some of you may recall, we did a garden this year and the kids were VERY into it. Today was the day we decided to finally harvest the potatoes and carrots. Well, we also had a couple of radishes left too, ones that SHOULD have been picked back in July. But my oldest wanted to see just how big a radish could grow. So here it is in all it's glory.

And just for size comparison, I had him hold up a baseball too. ROFLMAO

He wanted me to call Guinness. NO JOKE.  I told him I would look it up on Google first to see if it is even in the running. Probably not, was my guess. So I checked into this and it doesn't even come close to the world record of 4' 4" in length with a 14" diameter. But it was still funny.  And I bet next year he will strive for one even bigger. LOL

Fitness Model {Central New York Photographer}

A few days ago, I had the pleasure of meeting John who is a young model aspiring to become a personal trainer.  It’s so funny how he and I actually know some of the same people yet have never met before.  Even more funny is that one of those people is my neighbor’s son.  You’d think that in the 11 years we have lived here that I would have at least seen him once or twice out there shooting hoops, right?  LOL

Anyway, we had a good laugh over it and took some fun pics using a different lighting setup from my norm.  Take a look and let me know what you think.  I would love to do more athletes and fitness enthusiasts in the future.  🙂

John, good luck in pursuit of your dream job.  I think you’ll do great at it.  🙂

Challenge – Chalk {Central New York Photographer}

The ladies over at 4 The Love of Focus are having a back to school photo contest with the theme "chalk".  I've been trying to get outside to do this for nearly a week, but it has been miserable here with rain each day.  But today was a good day and I found a dry spot to make a hopscotch board for the kids.  I encourage you to go outside and play too!!  🙂

Urban Boudoir Session {CNY Boudoir Portraits by Kim Hill for Seductively You}

I had the pleasure of shooting with Renee again this past week.  We went to an abandoned factory in a neighboring town.  Lots of awesome textures and interesting backgrounds to work with.  And the fact that it was completely empty gave us the privacy we needed for such an intimate session.
