MWYW Week 16: Happiness {Syracuse portrait photographer, Kim Hill}

This month's theme for "My World, Your World" is HAPPINESS.  There are so many happy moments that I could've captured this week, but I kept putting it off and putting it off.  Then yesterday, I was sitting her working along and snacking on my absolute FAVORITE candy and thought, "Ooooh, this is perfect for the happiness theme".  So out came the camera with my brand spankin' new 135L, slapped onto the handy-dandy tripod and ready to go.  I had my youngest sit on the stool for me to get a focal point, then set the timer and prayed I was sitting in the right spot.  All the while, my son was telling me how to pose – "tilt your head that way, mom" and "oops, I don't see your eyes in this one" and my personal favorite, "don't eat it ALL or you won't have any left for the photo".  ROFLMAO

So without further ado, I bring you HAPPINESS as seen by Britt Anderson and myself….two photographers with two different viewpoints on the same theme.  As I've mentioned in prior posts, Britt Anderson covers the Hilton Head and Savannah, Georgia region and is a super talented photographer who you MUST check out if you're ever in her area.

Have a happy Easter everyone!!  🙂

Lisa’s fashion shoot {Syracuse NY portrait photographer}

Today I met up with Lisa, one of the winners of the free portrait session and $25 print credit.  Lisa has been modeling for a couple of years now and was looking to add some new fashion shots to her growing portfolio.  We met downtown at this total dive of an old warehouse.  It was full of broken glass, decaying foundation, and all sorts of other nasty debris.  But the walls had so many different color options that we couldn’t resist shooting there.

Anyway, even though this shot doesn’t show all the fun different textures and colors, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it.  You would never guess that the brown background was a dirty old door.  Doesn’t it compliment her gorgeous eyes?!

I have so many more to process…so more to come next week.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek.  🙂

MWYW – Week 12 – Silence {CNY Portrait Photographer, Kim Hill}

Hard to believe we are 25% of the way through the project "My World, Your World".  This is technically Week 12, but I'm only participating monthly.  This week's theme is "Silence".  I immediately knew that I wanted to take a shot of our youngest while sleeping.  He is quite possibly the MOST talkative person I know.  He wakes up chatty and goes to bed talking and singing to himself.  LOL  So the only "silence" we have around here is when he's asleep.

There are 36 of us participating in this year-long project and my partner continues to be the uber-talented Britt Anderson who covers the Hilton Head and Savannah, Georgia region.  If you are ever vacationing in that area, I hope you'll look her up.  :)

Here is our diptych – her shot is on top and mine is beneath.  Funny how we both had the same thought.  I love how moody her shot is with the B&W and all the grain/noise.  Personally, I'm not one to want to embrace the grain so I actually turned on the bedroom light when I took mine which is why my shot has less visible noise than hers.

Thanks so much for taking a moment to view our project.  I hope it continues to inspire others too!  🙂

4TLoF Birthday Contest {CNY Portrait Photographer, Kim Hill}

So the gals over at the Focus forum are hosting a contest (just one of many this month) to celebrate the 1st birthday of the 4TLoF forum.  The rules stated we had to do something creative with the 4TLoF name in the photo.  We could enter up to 3 times….I have just two.  But here they are:

ENTRY 1:

I sure hope these are creative enough.  My family thinks I'm completely nuts now.  LOL  Thanks for taking a look.  😉

Hippie Inspired Shoot {Syracuse Portrait Photographer, Kim Hill}

Last week I had the pleasure of working with Gabby who came in for a hippie inspired photo session.  She had a great assortment of outfits and jewelry to choose from which were just perfect for the modern take on this look. Oh and Michelle Maw joined us to do the make-up.

And she was so brave to agree to go outside to shoot!  It was an extremely sunny day, but still less than 30 degrees here in central New York.

Thanks so much for a fun shoot, Gabby!  I look forward to working with you again sometime.

Snowboarding 6 year old {Cicero NY Photographer}

The boys received snowboards from Santa, but have only had a few "good snow" days to use them, one of which was over the past weekend.  I was surprised at how good our youngest has become.  He has great balance and seems to really enjoy it.  I imagine next winter we will be moving to a bigger hill than what we have in our own backyard.  LOL

It's been so nice to see him finally feeling better after several weeks of being sick with strep, then a cold, then strep again.  I think the fresh air did him a world of good.  🙂

My World, Your World Project {Photos by Kim Hill, Central New York Photographer}

The second month of the annual MWYW Project has just finished up.  The topic this time is weather. There are 36 of us participating, so We have paired up for each theme.  As I mentioned last month, my partner for the year is the fabulously talented Britt Anderson who covers the Hilton Head and Savannah, Georgia region.

Here is my half – a lovely snow covered bush in our backyard.  You'll need to go to Britt's blog to see her half of the project.  Be prepared to be green with envy…..I certainly am.  LOL

KMH-0031_500px

And as usual here in New York, it is now 40 degrees, pouring rain, and all the snow is melting away.  I'm actually very happy to see it go and am looking forward to much nicer weather in the weeks to come.

Miss Renee {Boudoir Portraits, Syracuse, NY – Seductively You}

My friend, Renee, came over for another session the other day.  She had brought a new lingerie set that she was so eager to get some images of.  LOL  So we had a blast.  We also did a few other types of “looks” that will be featured on the blog so when you’re done here, be sure to check that out as well.  🙂  So without further ado…..here she is:

Fashion Shoot with Renee {Glamour Photography, Cicero, NY – Photos by Kim Hill}

Renee contacted me a couple weeks ago as she was interested in getting some different fashion shots for her modeling portfolio.  She came in with several different ideas and I just loved them all.  It was amazing, to me, how she was able to transform her hair and make-up to make each look unique.  Yes, she did all her own make-up and hair.  Usually we would hire a specialist for that, but Renee was confident she could do it.

We started out with a look she refers to as “The Flapper Girl”.  Cute little dress, my bird cage veil, and lots of jewelry.  We had a few from this series that also included one of my vintage cameras….maybe I’ll post that on the website later today.  🙂

Then I changed out the set while she changed into her “butterfly” look.  This included an adorable set of butterfly hair clips, a cute and sparkly t-shirt and of course more jewelry.  She’s got a piercing on her chest (just in case you’re wondering what that is).

Next, we worked on the look she refers to as “swirlies”.  These are just scrapbook stickers applied to her face.

And the last look was the most challenging as we had to strategically place these peacock feathers.  It was interesting to see her try to pose without losing the feathers.  LOL  She did great, though, and it was so worth the effort we put into this shot.

We had so many great shots from this session that I created an entirely new gallery on the Photos by Kim Hill website.  So take a look for the new “Fashion” gallery to see more from this fun session with Renee.
