Project 52: Week 2 {Personal Photography Project}

This week's Project 52 theme is "Perfect".  As I was walking through the grocery store today, I saw these colorful daisies and couldn't help but think that they would be a great subject for this week.  It was the one white petal that struck me – perfectly imperfect.  🙂

For those interested in settings, I used the Canon 135L lens at ISO 100, 1/160, F2.5, hand held, studio strobe at lowest power feathered in front of subject with a white reflector opposite.

Project 52 {personal photography project}

Once again, I'm starting another personal photo project.  Some of the past years' projects never were finished, most were never even posted online.  But I'm going to try to do better this time.  **yeah, really I am**

This year, I'm going to do one photo a week with a different theme.  First theme is "new".  And seeing as this is a new year, I snapped a shot of my calendar.  For those interested in settings:  ISO 1250, 1/60, F2.8, hand held, no flash.

2011 Year in Review {Photos by Kim Hill}

This was an amazing year filled with fabulous clients and some super fun sessions.  Most of my sessions were comprised of fashion, boudoir and high school seniors.  But I also worked with a few children and some entertainers as well.  Hope you enjoy this glimpse at some of the highlights.

Rocker Chick {Syracuse fashion photography}

Phew – I'm a little bit behind in my blogging as I've been too busy getting ready for the holidays.  This session was done a few weeks ago with Taylor.  I wanted to do a studio version of a rocker chick and had brought up my husband's guitar and amp to help as props.  Make-up was done by Michelle Maw and Taylor did her own hair.

Beauty Shoot-Out {Fashion Photography, Cicero NY}

Yesterday I met up with a small group of photographers, models, make-up artist and hair stylist over at another studio.  The theme was "holiday beauty".  We did a high key lighting set with a beauty dish – something I've wanted to try for a long time.  While I did enjoy the experience, I don't think I'm in any rush to get a beauty dish (which is good for my wallet – LOL).  Lakisa Renee did the make-up, Mrs. Nesci did the hair, and we had two models – the two Taylors.  Today's post features Taylor Nesci, a local high school senior.  I'll post the other Taylor's images another day (still have to process them).

Cheerleader Portraits {CNY Cheer Team, Cicero NY}

Ashley volunteered to come to the studio the other day so I could get some cheerleading images to add to my high school senior portfolio.  She is quite an amazing gymnast/athlete and has cheered since she was just 5 years old.  The CNY Cheer Team is where she did competitive cheerleading and this team won Nationals 3 years in a row.  Pretty amazing!

Fashion Session with Mz Jai {Fashion Photography, Cicero NY}

So last week Mz. Jai stopped by the studio for a quick fashion session.  She had a specific look in mind and brought along some photos to show me the concept she was after.  The one shot she really wanted to do had the model wearing a small crown, which neither of us had available.  So we had to improvise which is totally fine.  Actually, I don’t think a crown would really say “this is Mz. Jai” anyway, but this top hat sure does!  🙂

Sara’s senior pictures {Syracuse, NY yearbook portraits}

A couple weeks ago, Sara’s mom called to see if I still had any openings for senior portraits.  My schedule has been pretty filled up but we worked out a date and I am sooo glad we did.  Sara was a lot of fun to work with and so at ease in front of the camera.  She brought along her iPod with Adele’s music loaded up and a lot of great outfits.  Here’s a look at just a few of my favorites from her senior portrait session:

Senior Pictures with Brittany {Cicero, NY Yearbook Portraits}

Last week I had the pleasure of working with Brittany, a local high school senior.  Before her session, her orthodontist offered to take her braces off which I thought was pretty awesome.  Her teeth look terrific!

Her session included both outside and in studio.  With the number of outfits she brought we had a lot of variety which was great!  And she got her session completed just before the last of the leaves fell off the trees out back.  Phew – that was a close one!
