New Year, New Project {Central New York Photographer}

Well happy new year to all.  It’s been quite a while since I posted last……been doing all sorts of other things during the month of December.  Between the holidays and having the kids home for nearly 2 weeks over winter recess, I just didn’t find the time to blog.  But today is a new day and here we are.  🙂

So I decided to embark on a personal photography project – something just for my own personal enjoyment.  After consulting with some colleagues about what my project topic could be about, I’ve settled on architecture as it relates to windows and doors, specifically.  I don’t have a daily or even a weekly goal, but rather if I see something in my travels that fits within the project theme, then I will photograph it to the best of my ability.

Today is the first day of the project.  It just sort of happened by chance, actually.  My youngest son and I were looking out the large studio window as we watched his brother walk to the bus stop this morning. He commented on how big the icicles are which hang from the edge of the roof. I immediately saw the opportunity to grab a silhouette. This is actually a full color image, even though at first glance it looks like a black & white…..notice the brown house in the background?

The only thing I did to it was convert from raw, cropped, and used the patch tool to remove our thermometer that is mounted on the outside of the window. Oh and the black edge along the bottom is part of the window….this is a bow window that sits about 5 inches off the hardwood floor. I tried cropping it off, but then it looked too tight against his feet.

Hope you are enjoying this beautiful winter weather.  I just like the view…..not the cold that comes with it.  C-ya!

About Kim Hill

I’m passionate about my work and helping women feel comfortable in front of my lens. I want women to feel confident and sexy regardless of age or size. All women are beautiful and I'm here to help them see the beauty in themselves and the boudoir photographic experience is one step in that direction. I am dedicated to bringing a high-quality experience to the boudoir portrait session. My goal is to offer a fun yet relaxing environment where a woman can let down her guard, allowing that inner sparkle to shine. I’ve been a photographer for more than 25 years now. I started as a young child with my parents' 110 film camera, moved on to study photography in college, interned with a wedding photographer for a couple of years and then struck out on my own. I've been doing general portraits since 1998 and boudoir work since 2009. In addition to boudoir, I also offer high school senior portraits, fashion inspired sessions, and business executive head shots.
