Last week's theme was "water". My family ventured north for a day at the cottage with my parents. We couldn't have asked for nicer weather….mid 70's and a light breeze. :) The boys were quite eager to go swimming when we arrived. I warned them that the water would be cold. They said, "It's okay, Mom." Then they put their feet in and realized just how cold it really was. You see, the lake is spring fed which means the water never really warms up much except along the shoreline where it's shallow.
In the image below, our youngest (7 years old) had just learned how to snorkel and was watching the small perch and sunfish swimming around. He was mesmerized. 🙂
For those interested in camera settings, I shot this Motorola Xoom tablet. Trying to interpret the camera settings in the Exif data is interesting. The only thing I know for sure is that it is ISO 100. The aperture value is listed as 14/5 and the shutter speed is listed as 3/5000. So my interpretation of that is F2.8 at 1/166th of a second (but I could be wrong). No editing done here other than to resize and sharpen for web. But, I also posted this photo through Instagram and used a tilt-shift effect which was pretty cool. You can see that on my Facebook page.
Are you doing your own Project 52 or Project 365/66? If so, please post a link to your images in the comments below. 🙂
What troopers! Love the image. Too cute
Ha! My first thought was, why is she photographing a body in the water….he looks so serene!
Love this image. Very cool
What a calm place! Makes me wish I didn’t still have a month left of work before I get to go on vacation!
so pretty but brrrr!!
That looks so pretty and peaceful…love how he floats near the top to be near warm water!
I should add that he’s snorkeling. This was the first time either of my boys did that and they spent 5 hours straight doing it. 🙂
Looks like such a beautiful day to be watching the marine life, that’s a great memory for him 🙂
