This week's theme is "Home" and rather than take a boring shot of my own home, I decided to capture our baby birds' home – their nest. These are baby house sparrows which are nesting in our burberry bush out back. A few weeks ago, there were 6 tiny eggs. Five of the eggs hatched. These appear to be the only 3 left as I have not seen the other 2 hatchlings in over a week. I suppose they could be tucked under these three, but probably not likely. Anyway, they are so darn cute and have no problem with me pushing the foliage aside in order to take their photo. Their momma, though, is a total spaz (see last week's Project 52 theme "Hidden"). She jumps around from bush to bush, then to the grass, then to the tree, squawking at me the whole time. Ha ha ha – she's gonna tire herself out trying to protect those babies. 😉 For those interested in camera settings, I shot this with my Canon 24-70L handheld at 70mm, natural light, ISO 1000, 1/60th at F4.5.
Are you doing your own Project 52 or Project 365/66? If so, please post a link to your images in the comments below. 🙂
